A very nice museum - Not fully open due to furlough (I assume) This is a nice visit if you want to understand the 39th President’s beginnings. Jimmy Carter’s Boyhood Home in Plains, Georgia is surrounded by fields, farm buildings, and history that are still authentic. Despite a few logistical hiccups—the GPS sent us the wrong way, and the main parking lot was closed, likely due to the ongoing furlough—the visit was worth the detour. Parking was limited with only a gravel lot by the street, but manageable. We noticed some visitors arrived by train, which apparently stops right across the country road from the site, adding a touch of charm to the trip. Once on site, we walked around the well-preserved buildings. It really gives you a clear sense of how the Carter family lived and worked. Almost every structure—from the farmhouse to the barns and sheds—includes some type of interpretive signs sharing stories about family life, farm operations, and moments that shaped Jimmy Carter’s values. President Jimmy Carters family boyhood farm and house is 2.5 miles from Plains and features outdoor exhibits and an audio station in the home. It really captures the simple life from his childhood. I appreciated the large parking spaces for busses and RV'S. Unfortunately in the heavy rain we couldn't walk the grounds.

This is a self-guided tour of the home and spaces. I thought the historical, preserved nature of the home and buildings was very nice. There is a lot to learn and see and if you are already close to Plains, it is worth the trip to see. The S.AM. tain also stops here.

I think this was the best part of our visit through the area. All the other Carter Historical Sites are wonderful but to be able to see where one was born and grew up tops them all off. Easy to navigate to and from. Was not that busy.

This National Park is well maintained and interesting. The park preserves the essence of the old country farm. The Carter boyhood farm house has a lot period style furniture and antiques. It really gives a sense of a different time compared to our modern times. The park has live animals on the site and different patches of gardens to show the different crops grown. There is an old commissary style store on the park. It really goes to show how product prices and packaging were different back then. The park is free and the Jimmy Carter’s old high school is 2.5 miles away with the visitor center. This was a great experience and I recommend it for everyone.

It's a wonderful experience. We went there on the train. I'd love to go there when there weren't so many people. There are stories told by Jimmy Carter in the house. You press a button to hear them. There were so many people that you just couldn't here it. We had a good time.
